Welcome to camping Waterhout, located in the middle of the Noorderplassen surrounded by water, nature and plenty of peace. Our cozy family campsite is located near the city centre of Almere and is the gateway to Nieuwland National Park. The Netherlands caters for the active and those who would rather a more leisurely break. Local attractions include Amsterdam, Utrecht and Amersfoort, which are easily accessible by car or public transport.
It is our mission for our guests to enjoy their stay and the wonderful facilities that we offer. Waterhout is a great campsite, where the young and old can spend a wonderful holiday that you will never forget.
Nature
You can enjoy cycling or walking through the Lepelaarsplassen and the Oostvaardersplassen. You can also swim, sail, canoe, paddle board, bird watch, fish and play to your heart's content here. The extensive waterways and uninterrupted bicycle paths can also be accessed from the campsite. You can hire bikes and water sport equipment from reception. The staff at Waterhout have years of experience and knowledge of the Netherlands and would be more than happy to help you to plan your day trip / holiday (maps are available at reception).
Pitches
The camping pitches are spacious (110 m2) with running water, electricity and drainage. You can take a nice warm shower in the new heated amenities block. We have two buildings, these contain showers, toilets, family changing room, laundry rooms, and disabled showers and toilets. Chemical toilets are also available if required.
We are open to day trippers or for people who would like to spend a considerable amount of time here with us. Whatever your requirements are we are more than happy to assist.
We also cater for towing caravans, mobile campervans and our jetty has moorings for 6 good sized boats (with electricity). If you fancy spending a night on the water, there is a camping raft that can be rented out.
Houses
We have a number of small wooden houses suitable for a maximum of two people. Plus we also have two family-sized glamping tents suitable for up to six people which overlook the water.
Direction
Getting to the campsite is easy - it's close to Almere’s City Centre which has excellent bus and train links from Schiphol Airport. If you are travelling by road the A6 motorway is also a short distance.
Restaurant
Camping Waterhout has its own restaurant Brasserie 'Tien' which has a large sunny terrace on the water and can seat a maximum of 100 people. Here you can enjoy a drink and a snack in a casual atmosphere. For children there is a soft play area with climbing frame and large inflatable trampoline. There is also an ever-expanding small animal farm on site.
We hope to see you soon!
